Los Angeles: the Emmy Awards of 2020 were an affair to behold, for it was the first time that this celebrated awards function had no crowds or fan-frenzy to cheer up the stars.
With no red carpet laid out, there were many overhauls to the show from the last year. Nothing like what we've come to expect from the Emmys through the years.
Yet, Emmy Awards 2020 gave us plenty of highlights. We list them down for you :-
1) The drama series "succession" sweeped the awards under the drama category. Schitt's creek created the most buzz though in Emmys of 2020, crafting history by winning all the awards in the comedy category.
2) Zendaya became the youngest black actress to win an Emmy award & she had some tough competition alright. She won in Lead - Drama Actress Category.
3) Jennifer Aniston gave her fans plenty to cheer about in this pandemic, with a friends reunion of sorts.
4) Jimmy Kimmel was the host of this year's Emmy awards. With pertinent voices across the globe singing in one resounding voice regarding #blacklivesmatter movement, it's a fact to behold that this year's Emmy awards had the highest no. of black nominees in it's history. Kimmel along with Anthony Anderson also performed a skit on the movement.
5) Politics and Emmy awards go hand in hand, for winners often use their winning moment as an opportunity to highlight their political standpoints or personal ideological beliefs. 'Succession' creator in Jesse Armstrong gave a rather unique "unthankyou" speech. Unthanking the virus & Donald Trump.
