MUST WATCH: BROOKLYN99 (2 Ardent Lovers Of The Show, Give Their Noice Take On Why It's A Must Watch)

Are you a dog-lover? Or maybe you love pranks? If you are into one or the other, let us

introduce you to Brooklyn Nine-Nine. A light-hearted family comedy, with a right mix of

drama and romance, this is an American police procedural parody. A well-trained Corgi trots

about the precinct as an unofficial part of the annual Halloween Heists. (Let’s see if you can

guess who the best detective/human is!)

The show touches up on social issues like racial biasing, police brutality, the fight against

patriarchy, the #MeToo movement, and the homophobia and suppression faced by the

LGBTQ community.

The show explores the character’s personal lives and their interpersonal relations with the

squad as they navigate through hilarious situations.

Let us introduce you to the Squad:

1. Captain Raymond Holt, played by Andre Braugher, is the first black and openly gay

Police Captain in New York City. He is a stoic character, stickler for the rules.

2. Sargent Terry Jeffords, played by Terry Crews, is a huge, gentle, family-man. Terry

loves love and yogurt. Terry, being black, facing racial discrimination and police

brutality despite being a cop which shakes him and motivates him to rise through

the ranks to make a change.

3. Detective Rosa Diaz, played by Stephanie Beatriz, is a Latina, bi-sexual detective,

famous for being crazy, bad-ass and tough guy. She values her privacy so much that

no one is really sure if her name actually is Rosa Diaz.

4. Detective Amy Santiago, played by Melissa Fumero, is hellbent on always going by the book, nerdy but she's a lovable detective. She loves new binders and the way they smell.

5. Detectives Michael Hitchcock, played by Dirk Blocker, and Norman Scully, played by

Joel McKinnon Miller, are seemingly incompetent, insatiably hungry and lazy

detectives who have solved the most cases out of the entire squad only because

they’ve been on the force longest (like, since forever!).

6. Detective Charles Boyle, played by Joe Lo Truglio, is a hard-working, shy (but without

a filter) and loyal to a fault best friend to Jake Peralta.

7. The precinct also includes sarcastic and dominating civilian Gina Linetti, played by

Chelsea Peretti, assistant to Captain Holt, who dislikes her job, plans her life around

social media and focuses on dancing as a life goal. (because Gina knows best!)

8. *BIAS ALERT* *Our Favoruite Alert* Detective Jacob “Jake” Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, is a childish grown man, with daddy issues who looks up to Captain Holt as a father-figure. (cool cool cool cool)

Let us introduce you to three special additions that make the squad of 8 turn into a squad of

11 titled “Suicide Squad”, affectionately by Jake –

1. Kieth “The Vulture” Pembroke, played by Dean Winters, is an obnoxious,

condescending, sexist, arrogant, lazy character who treats everyone with complete

disrespect and incredible pomposity and generally acts like a jerk. (You gotta watch

the show to find out why he is called “The Vulture”)

2. Commissioner Madeline Wunch ,played by Kyra Sedgwick, is an intelligent, cunning

woman, known for her quips, and the weird psycho-sexual relationship between

Wunch and Holt.

3. Captain Jason “CJ” Stently, played by Ken Marino, is a laid-back, clumsy man who is

grossly under-qualified for his job, but lands it through a series of happy accidents.

Some more interesting characters you may like:

1. Doug Judy, played by Craig Robinson, shares one half of the infamous frenemy

relationship with Jake.

2. Adrian Pimento, played by Jason Mantzoukas, is a tough, mentally unstable alpha-

personality with a dark past.

3. Teddy Wells, played by Kyle Bornheimer, is perpetually in love with Amy Santiago

even though she considers him the “Most Boring Man in America”.

Michael Schur has made a name for himself in the television landscape over the past couple

of years with thoughtful, progressive, and upbeat projects — and Brooklyn Nine-Nine is no

exception, making it's eventual survival even sweeter.

Tell us whyyy, have we not convinced you to forget everything and watch Brooklyn 99 yet?

Can you spot all the hidden pop culture references in this show? Let’s hear you say Nine-

Nine!
